TeamAsia founder and president, Monette Iturralde-Hamlin, delivered an events management seminar for the participants of the Philippine M.I.C.E Academy’s Events Management 101 last March 29, 2017 at Enderun Colleges, Taguig City.
With 25 years’ worth of experience in event planning, marketing and promotion, Monette provided the participants with a broader perspective on the M.I.C.E (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions/Events) industry.
The 2016 CEO EXCEL Awards recipient began her talk with a video showing the different events which TeamAsia had successfully organized and mounted in the past.
Monette gives one of the most important advice in event management: “When you promise something, deliver.”.
“When you promise something, deliver,” Monette told the audience comprised of event organizers, corporate communication officers, government employees, and project managers, among others.
Not only did Monette discuss the essentials of events planning, but she gave insight on how to make it work, as well as emphasizing the importance of building good relationships with clients and colleagues alike and the importance of loving what you do.
“If you want to work, find something that you love so that it is no longer work but play,” advised Monette.
Leading an agency that embraces innovation herself, Monette discussed the role that technology plays in event marketing and promotion. She explained how it helps engagement managers connect with a wide range of audiences in real time, while consequently allowing them to stay globally competent.
In the latter part of her talk, Monette put the spotlight on different strategies that can be used for the marketing of events. She stressed that messages should be crafted in such a way that would catch the attention of the target audience.
“Find the sweet spot,” she advised, exhibiting her status not just as an events manager but also as a veteran of the marketing communications industry.
